Wildwood and Eden Wedding Photographer - Charlotte and Ryan

Updated: May 4, 2020

This wedding will forever go down in my memory as one of my faves, not only because of the beautiful venue and scrummy details, but because of the amazing couple at the centre of it all. Charlotte and Ryan faced some truly epic hurricane-style weather on their wedding day in August last year, but took it completely in their stride and laughed their way through the wind and rain.

The day began at Charlotte's parents' house in Scarborough where I snapped some lovely getting ready shots of the bride and her besties. I absolutely love shooting bridal prep at home. There's so many opportunities for interesting framing with staircases and doorways and there are often loads of personal touches around that I can incorporate into the photos. I was really lucky with this wedding because Charlotte's parents have the best taste in interior design so I was absolutely spoilt for inspiration around the house. You'll see what I mean when you see the yellow wallpaper! Despite a last minute nightmare with her dress (which involved having to buy a new one just weeks before the wedding!) Charlotte was the absolute vision of a boho babe, with a bardot neckline and fresh flowers in her hair.

Following prep we made our way down the road to St Lawrence's church in Scalby for the beautiful ceremony and then made a mad dash to the reception venue just as the heavens opened!

This was my first time shooting at Wildwood and Eden and I absolutely loved it! The tipis, pizza van, vintage caravan and rolling fields provide some really fun and unique spots for photos and I'm so glad that Charlotte and Ryan braved the weather with me to make the most of their couple portraits. Charlotte is an amazing artist (check out her work on Instagram at @charlotteporterdesign), so the details throughout the wedding were SUBLIME. The tipis and barn were filled with gorgeous ombre details, vintage touches and fabulous florals. My favourite thing at the wedding was the guest book; a collection of vintage postcards of Scarborough for the guests to write a message on. I am a sucker for vintage postcards (especially ones of my beloved North Yorkshire) so I couldn't have imagined a more beautiful idea!

The evening party featured the best wedding band I've seen at a wedding so far, Jimmy and the Hound Dogs. These guys were INSANE. If you're looking for a band for your wedding I couldn't recommend these guys enough. I think the dancing pics further down are evidence of how much fun everybody had.

This really was one epic wedding. Epic venue, epic weather and an epic couple. Endless thanks to Charlotte and Ryan for having me along on their wedding day! I hope you love looking through the photos and if you're looking for a photographer for your 2020/2021 wedding just drop me a message!
