Kirknewton Stables Wedding
Updated: May 2
Exactly a year ago today, I was in rainy Scotland shooting the beautiful wedding of Amanda and Phil. I had been looking forward to this wedding for a verrrryyy long time. It's not often that a photographer from South Yorkshire gets invited up to shoot a wedding in Edinburgh, so I was super excited to have such an amazing opportunity.
This lovely pair chose to marry in their local church in South Queensferry, followed by a rustic and elegant reception at Kirknewton House Stables. It rained for the ENTIRE day, but that was no problem for this pair! Amanda and Phil were so up for getting outside and getting their dream photos in front of the Forth Rail Bridge, regardless of the weather. In fact, the rain really worked in our favour, with the brollies and misty hues adding a gorgeous romantic and vintage feel to the photos.
Amanda wore a classically timeless dress by Suzanne Neville, with fabulous statement earrings and nude sandals. Her simple veil finished off her outfit perfectly. They chose a pastel blue vintage Licoln Capri for their wedding car, supplied by the wonderful Edinburgh Classic Cars. This babe of a car made such an awesome addition to their photos, and looked so cool in the mist and trees at Kirknewton Stables! The beautiful blue hues ran through the day in the flowers and decorations, and the china blue of the bridesmaid dresses added a real muted elegance to the day. This was a pretty special wedding for me, as not only did it lead to my first wedding blog feature ever on the fantastic Love My Dress (Link here), it introduced me to the loveliest of couples who have supported me and my photography work ever since. I also took some of what I consider to be the best photos of my career so far, despite the tricky weather conditions and a reeeaaaally bad bout of tonsillitis that appeared the day before! Big shout out to my lovely Aaron for looking after me and getting me an emergency doctors appointment. Thank goodness for Aarons and antibiotics!
Amanda and Phil, I hope you have the most fantastic 1st Anniversary, and though it might not be what you'd expected (Thanks, Covid 19), I hope you have a fantastic day regardless!
